Harris Teeter Weekly Menu Aug 12 -18

On the road again...this weekend we're headed to my hometown (Waynesville, NC) for the wedding of my oldest friend. When we were little, people would ask us how long we had known each other and we would reply "we knew each other before we were born - our moms would bump bellies and we would talk to each other!" A hilarious kid response but it's not often that you get to witness the marriage of a friend you have known for 28 years. Congrats Cassie and Dave, we're so excited to be a part of your big day!

Another reason to celebrate this weekend is Super Doubles at Harris Teeter! Not quite a wedding but it ranks pretty close in my book, especially since the Teeter is continuing their new policy of doubling coupons $2 or under. Check here, here, and here for any high dollar coupons for products you might need. Also, HT canned beans are back to $.50 each so I'm definitely filling my shelves!

The subtotal is $48. Not too many meat options were on sale this week so we're sticking to old trusty and my favorite - chicken! The Tex-Mex Chicken Soup serves four so you can eat leftovers and take away one other meal to save even more.

A side note: a lot of the recipes I've been using lately call for fresh corn kernels. I think straight off the cob is tastier and healthier. You can always substitute canned or frozen if you aren't up to cutting the kernels off OR you can invest in one of these babies that will get the corn off in a zip (pun intended)!
