My hubby brought home some fresh salmon from a friend for me to cook this weekend. I am not a fan but I am a good sport.
What spices are in your 5 spice mix?

Five-spice powder is a prepared spice blend that includes cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds, cloves and pepper. It can be found in the spice section or Asian section of the grocery store.

There is no substitute for five-spice powder, but you can make your own with 3 cinnamon sticks, 5 star anise, 1 1/2 teaspoons fennel seeds, 1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves and 3/4 teaspoon black peppercorns. Grind in a coffee or spice grinder until finely ground.

I hope that helps!
